With a finals type atmosphere in front of a massive crowd, Pearcedale defeated a gallant Somerville by a slender 2 points in the round 3 MPNFL fixture.

The 3912 Postcode Cup brought back memories of the halcyon days of country footy with 2 highly fancied teams going head to head, no car parks to be found and a pre-match guard of honour to commemorate ANZAC Day.

With Somerville and Pearcedale coaches in Chris Gamble and Peter Bastinac demanding hard at the contest footy, both teams pushed for the ascendancy, with Pearcedale slamming on 7 goals 5 behinds in the first quarter. Somerville missed a golden opportunity to reciprocate with an errant 4 goals 9 behinds for the quarter.

After a brilliant first quarter from both teams, goals became harder to find than an advertisement free political campaign and at the 3/4 break, Pearcedale held a narrow lead of 5 points, 57-52.

As the final siren sounded The Dales were able to hold that ascendancy to record a hard fought victory 11-10-76 to Somerville 10-14-74.
