Letter to the Editor: Questions That Deserve Answers

Local resident Graham Griffiths raises questions about federal funding, migration settings and humanitarian aid, calling for clearer explanations from government decision-makers in his latest Letter to the Editor.

There must be elections coming up. Some people seem to be back on the Labor election trail, judging by their regular letters to the editor accusing Zoe McKenzie of incompetence or failings. I wonder if these critics realise that any MP in Opposition rarely gets the same influence as those in government. Even the Prime Minister cut ministerial staff.

I would like those who have been so critical to answer the following:

  1. Why did Labor give $27 million to the Australian National Imams Council, and what safeguards are in place to ensure the funding is used in line with community expectations?
  2. Why was $57 million given to Gaza, and what assurances do we have that funding reaches civilians given the complex political and security situation there
  1. Why were thousands of people recently settled in Australia from conflict-affected regions, and what vetting and security checks were applied?

After WW2 the Italians, Greeks, Poles and other European refugees settled in Australia and helped build this great country. Following that came the Vietnamese and Koreans.

Migration was meant to prioritise skilled workers. I do not believe current settings are delivering that outcome, and I think the government needs to explain why.

Why does the Labor Party not use deportation as a tool?

The Teals and Greens are participating in the destruction of our unlucky country.

As an old white stale, pale man, I would relish the chance to put my uniform on and defend what is left of a great country.

P.S. I will vote for Pauline.
