Pakenham Woman Caught Driving Over Five Times Legal Limit

A Pakenham woman has had her licence suspended and car impounded after allegedly returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.263—more than five times the legal limit—during a late-night police intercept.

A 43-year-old woman has had her car impounded and licence suspended after she was allegedly caught driving more than five times over the legal alcohol limit in Pakenham on Wednesday night.

Cardinia Highway Patrol officers were conducting routine patrols when they spotted a white MG wagon travelling southbound on McGregor Road around 11.55pm. The vehicle was intercepted shortly after on Park Boulevard.

The driver underwent a preliminary breath test at the scene before returning an alleged evidentiary reading of 0.263 – more than five times the legal limit of 0.05 for full licence holders in Victoria.

Her licence was immediately suspended for 12 months. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days, with towing and storage fees totalling $1,445.

She is expected to be charged on summons with multiple traffic offences.

Victoria Police have renewed calls for drivers to act responsibly, warning that drink-driving remains one of the leading causes of road trauma across the state.
