Frankston Council Prepares $1 Million Hardship Package Amid Cost-of-Living Pressures

Frankston Council is finalising a $1 million hardship package aimed at supporting residents impacted by the cost-of-living crisis. Cr Nathan Butler says the funding was secured through internal savings and will deliver targeted relief for the city’s most vulnerable.

Frankston City Council is preparing to roll out a $1 million support package in response to the growing cost-of-living crisis, with early details revealed by Cr Nathan Butler during an interview with RPP FM.

Cr Butler said the new initiative is aimed at providing practical relief to the municipality’s most vulnerable residents. The package is expected to include access to financial advice, cost-of-living assistance, and other targeted measures designed to ease financial pressure on struggling households.

“There’s over a million dollars in a local support package coming that we’ll be releasing information on soon,” Cr Butler said.

“We found that money through working with our council to find some real efficiencies, and I think it was really meaningful work. I’m very proud to have been part of a team that’s been able to deliver this.”

Council CEO Phil Cantillon is working closely with elected representatives to finalise the policy, with funding to be drawn from internal savings and responsible budgeting.

Butler encouraged residents to “watch this space,” adding that the forthcoming package reflects the Council’s commitment to supporting those doing it tough.

Full details of the hardship program are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
