Carrum, Victoria — 16 September 2025
A man has been charged over an alleged armed robbery in Carrum, where a 46-year-old victim was attacked with a metal pole before his car was stolen in broad daylight.
The incident occurred about 1pm on 4 September near a football club on Dyson Road. Police say the victim had entered a public toilet block when a man began banging on the door.
When the door was opened, the victim was allegedly struck with a metal pole as the attacker demanded car keys. The man then fled in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim managed to run from the scene and call for help. He was later taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested a 39-year-old Carrum man the following day on Smith Street. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.
The man has been charged with armed robbery, theft, motor vehicle theft, intentionally and recklessly causing injury, common law assault, and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 24 November.
