Two teenagers have been charged after an alleged string of offences across Melbourne’s southern suburbs earlier this month, with incidents reported in Hughesdale, Brighton, Gardenvale, Hampton, Berwick, Dandenong and Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula.
Victoria Police allege the pair, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, were involved in multiple aggravated burglaries, attempted burglaries, thefts, motor vehicle thefts, deception and criminal damage between 15 and 18 September.
Charges Laid
- The 16-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated burglary, motor vehicle theft, theft, deception, theft from motor vehicles, unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon, failing to stop for police, handling stolen goods, criminal damage and driving while disqualified. He has been remanded to appear at a children’s court.
- The 14-year-old girl has been charged with motor vehicle theft, theft, obtaining property by deception and handling stolen goods. She has been bailed to reappear at a children’s court.
Police Response
Detectives from the Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit led the investigation, charging the two after what police described as a concentrated run of offending across multiple communities.
