A wanted Mornington Peninsula man has been charged after police allege a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser utility was used to repeatedly ram a parked police vehicle at a Fleet Street unit complex, forcing two senior constables to take cover and leaving both officers injured.

Victoria Police said Mornington Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a man over the ramming, which police allege occurred about 7.40pm on Friday 12 December in Mornington after officers responded to reports of a “suspicious loiter” at the property.

Police allege officers located an allegedly stolen black Toyota Land Cruiser utility in the driveway, before it was driven into the parked police vehicle multiple times, becoming wedged in the driveway. The driver allegedly got out and fled northbound on Fleet Street.

Police said the two male senior constables retreated to take cover away from the vehicle during the incident and both sustained minor injuries that required medical treatment the following day. Police also said the police vehicle and the property sustained significant damage.
