Three people have been charged after Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives uncovered a cache of weapons and drugs during an early morning operation on Tuesday.
Police were first called to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked in a secluded area of Overport Park around 6.50am on 8 July. Inside the vehicle, officers allegedly found a 49-year-old Frankston man along with a 3D printed machine gun, a taser, and a drone. The man was arrested at the scene.
A follow-up search at a Frankston property later the same day allegedly revealed a revolver, ammunition, and a substantial quantity of illicit drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamines, ketamine, cannabis, and MDMA. A 47-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man at the address were also taken into custody.
While the trio remained in custody, detectives returned to the property for a more extensive search. They allegedly discovered an additional stash of weapons hidden in a concealed laundry compartment, including another 3D printed machine gun, two handguns, an imitation firearm, and more ammunition.
The 49-year-old man now faces a string of serious charges, including trafficking and manufacturing firearms, possessing 1.4 butane-diol, negligently dealing with the proceeds of crime, and committing an indictable offence while on bail. He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
The 47-year-old woman has been charged with possessing a drug of dependence and was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 31 July. The 25-year-old man was charged with drug trafficking and negligently dealing with the proceeds of crime and was also bailed to face court on the same day.
