Victoria Police allege offenders forced entry to a property in Narre Warren South just before 2am on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, armed with a loaded sawn-off shotgun and an edged weapon. Police say a 30-year-old man was home at the time.

Police allege a Mercedes SUV wagon was stolen from the address and tracked through multiple suburbs, including Berwick, Narre Warren North and Narre Warren. Stop sticks were deployed and the vehicle came to a stop on Narre Warren North Road, Narre Warren, police say.

Police say two men ran from the car and were arrested nearby at about 3.50am. One of the men was taken to hospital for observation before being released back into police custody, according to a police statement.

A 20-year-old man from Doveton has been charged with home invasion with firearm, theft of motor vehicle, theft, prohibited person carrying a firearm, dangerous driving while pursued by police, possess prohibited weapon, and unlicensed driving, police say.

A 23-year-old man from Berwick has been charged with home invasion with firearm, theft, and firearms and bail-related offences, police say.

Police say both men will be presented directly to the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today, and police will seek remand.
