Rye Man Charged After Police Allege Stolen Jet Ski Found and $11,300 in Counterfeit Cash Seized

Police allege a 32-year-old Rye man was about to leave a Collingwood Street property with a jet ski and trailer stolen from Mannum, South Australia, when officers executed a warrant. Police also allege more than $11,300 in counterfeit cash was seized. The man was bailed to appear at Dromana Magistrates’ Court on 12 February.

Police allege a Rye man was about to leave a local property with a stolen South Australian jet ski when officers executed a warrant and arrested him.

Victoria Police said Rosebud Uniform officers carried out a search warrant at a Collingwood Street property in Rye on Friday 9 January as part of an ongoing joint investigation with South Australia Police.

Police allege a jet ski and trailer stolen from Mannum, South Australia, on 21 September 2025 were recovered during the search.

Police allege counterfeit money and more items were seized

Police said they seized more than $11,300 in counterfeit money, which they allege was used in a series of cash deceptions.

Police also said they seized three outboard motors, another vessel, and drugs.

Charges and court date

Victoria Police said a 32-year-old Rye man was arrested at the property, alleging he had the jet ski and trailer hooked up to a vehicle at the time.

Police said he was charged with 22 offences, including:

  • Handle Stolen Goods
  • Knowingly Utter Counterfeit Money
  • Obtain Property By Deception

He was bailed to appear at Dromana Magistrates’ Court on 12 February.

This matter remains before the courts. The allegations have not been proven.
