A Seaford man has been arrested following a hit-run collision that left an off-duty police officer seriously injured along the Nepean Highway early Thursday morning.
The 61-year-old officer was cycling to work around 6am on 31 July when he was struck by a vehicle near Gould Street. He was found injured on the roadside and remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Police believe the man was hit by a white Isuzu D-MAX utility that failed to stop and render assistance.

Later that evening, around 8.35pm, a member of the public spotted a white ute parked at a service station on the Nepean Highway in Chelsea. The vehicle had earlier been reported for erratic driving.
Officers located and followed the vehicle through Edithvale and Aspendale before safely intercepting it in a service lane off Nepean Highway in Mentone about 9.05pm.
A 42-year-old Seaford man was arrested without incident. He was deemed unfit for interview at the time but is expected to be questioned by police today.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and will undergo forensic examination.
Frankston Crime Investigation Unit is leading the investigation.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the driving behaviour of the white Isuzu D-MAX, or who may have dashcam footage from the Nepean Highway between Frankston and Chelsea on Thursday morning, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
