Police are piecing together the circumstances after a man was discovered with critical head injuries on a Frankston street on Monday evening.
Emergency crews were called to Cecil Street, near Victoria Parade, about 7.10pm following reports that the man, believed to be in his 40s, had collapsed with severe injuries.
He was taken to hospital under emergency care and remains in a critical condition.
Detectives from the Frankston Crime Investigation Unit say it is still unclear how the man came to be injured. While investigators initially considered the possibility of a traffic collision, they have since ruled out a vehicle strike.
The street, which links Frankston’s CBD with residential areas, was busy at the time, and police are appealing for witnesses to help reconstruct the man’s movements before he was found. Officers are also urging residents and drivers in the area to check any CCTV or dashcam recordings from the period.
