Frankston Council Backs Neighbourhood Watch Revitalisation with $10,000 Funding Boost

Frankston Council has committed $10,000 to support Neighbourhood Watch, helping to strengthen community ties and crime prevention efforts across the city.

Frankston City Council has reaffirmed its commitment to local safety and crime prevention, with Mayor Kris Bolam JP and Councillors Brad Hill JP and Nathan Butler attending the latest Frankston Neighbourhood Watch meeting last Tuesday 2 July.

Held monthly, the meetings bring together residents, volunteers, Victoria Police and Council representatives to discuss practical ways to keep Frankston’s streets safer. Topics covered this month included improving communication between residents, promoting security tips, and strengthening the local presence of Neighbourhood Watch.

To support these efforts, Frankston Council has allocated $10,000 in its 2025–2026 Budget, adopted on 23 June, to help revitalise Frankston Neighbourhood Watch. The funding will assist with community outreach, events and resources aimed at building a more connected, safety-conscious community.

Mayor Kris Bolam said it was encouraging to see residents, police and Council working together on grassroots initiatives that make a real difference.

Neighbourhood Watch plays an important role in helping people look out for each other and keeping our suburbs safe. This funding will ensure the group can reach more people and continue its valuable work,” he said.

Frankston Neighbourhood Watch meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6.30pm. Details of upcoming meetings are shared on the group’s Facebook page, where residents can also message to learn more or get involved.

Locals are encouraged to attend and take an active role in shaping safer neighbourhoods across Frankston.
