Rosebud Police Impound Car After Driver Found Four Times Over Limit

A Rosebud driver has lost his licence and had his car impounded after being caught with a blood alcohol level of 0.20 on the Mornington Peninsula. Police say the man will face court over the serious drink driving offence.

Mornington Peninsula – A man has had his licence suspended and car impounded after Rosebud Police allegedly caught him driving with a blood alcohol reading four times the legal limit late Sunday night.

According to a statement from Eyewatch – Mornington Peninsula Police Service, officers from the night shift crew pulled the vehicle over after observing it swerving on local roads.

The male driver returned a breath test reading of 0.20, well above the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.05. He was immediately issued a 12-month licence suspension and will be required to appear in court at a future date.

Police said the driver faces the prospect of further penalties including fines, a potential disqualification period, and mandatory interlock conditions if he seeks to regain his licence.

The man’s vehicle was impounded on the spot, with a release cost of $1,225.
