Dachshunds, Goat Yoga and Pup Cups: Frankston’s Great Pet-Together Returns

Frankston’s Great Pet-Together returns to Ballam Park on 12 October with dachshund races, goat yoga, pup cup contests, pet markets and food trucks — a free day out for families and pets.

Frankston is set to go barking mad this October as Ballam Park plays host to the city’s newest pet-friendly celebration — The Great Pet-Together.

From dachshund races and a pup cup eating contest to a full-blown pet costume parade, the free community event promises plenty of laughs, wagging tails, and a whole lot of local spirit.

Quirky Highlights

Visitors can roll out a yoga mat and try their luck at goat yoga, spend a peaceful moment in the live butterfly gazebo, or head over to the market stalls for pet treats, handmade accessories, and even luxury outfits for four-legged fashionistas.

For those with a competitive streak, the Wag and Walk with Ray White Langwarrin kicks things off in the morning with a community dog walk, complete with free show bags. And if that’s not enough action, flyball demonstrations will showcase the speed and agility of local canine athletes.

Food for All — Paws Included

It wouldn’t be a Frankston festival without food trucks. Expect everything from Hot Didely Dogs and Mike’s Souvlaki to Chubby Bao, Acai Events, and Pup-up Crepes — ensuring both humans and hounds are well fed.

Celebrating a Pet-Loving City

Frankston Council Deputy Mayor Steffie Conroy said the event was designed as a joyful tribute to pets and the people who love them.

Where else can you race a dachshund, cuddle a goat, and shop for gourmet dog biscuits all in one place?” Cr Conroy said.

With more than 23,700 registered pets across Frankston — including 17,528 dogs and 6,187 cats — it’s no surprise the city is leaning into its reputation as a hub for animal lovers.
