RPP FM reports the Rosebud community has raised nearly $35,000 to support the launch of a vital new healthcare service at Rosebud Hospital, thanks to a collaborative fundraising effort involving the Village Glen and local residents.
The funds, raised as part of the Feb 50 Appeal, will directly contribute to the establishment of a new Lymphedema Service—an initiative set to provide local access to specialised care for residents managing the chronic condition.
Jana Gazarek, Chief Operating Officer of Peninsula Health, publicly acknowledged the role of community support in making the new service possible.
Lymphedema is a chronic condition that causes swelling in the body’s tissues, often as a result of cancer treatment, and requires ongoing specialised treatment. Until now, many local patients have had to travel outside the region to access appropriate services.
The new service is expected to improve outcomes for patients by reducing travel burdens and enabling earlier intervention through local, tailored care.
The Feb 50 Appeal—a community-driven campaign held throughout February—encouraged residents and businesses to walk, run, ride, or donate in support of local healthcare.
